No weakness.
Maxim has stayed alive—and on top—for years through a ruthless combination of brains and brutality. He’s grown the Syndicate into one of the world’s most powerful criminal enterprises. He cares for no one. Except her. The woman he never should have saved…the one who holds the remnants of his long-dead heart. No limits. Senna doesn’t know why Maxim spared her all those years ago, or why he’s kept her by his side. But she does know that nothing—not his beautiful cruelty, not the black void where his heart should be—can stop her from loving him. Wanting him. Even though she shouldn’t. No turning back. Years of obsession sharpen to a knife’s edge when Senna begins to crave her freedom. And when an old rival discovers her existence, Maxim must fight to keep her alive, even as he battles his need to possess her completely…no matter the cost.**

Sacrifices are necessary. And sometimes innocents have to suffer for the greater good.

I’ve always told myself that. Believed it, too.

Until I collided with her.

She’s plain, curvy, probably easily overlooked by most. Still, I sense a strength in her, a fire, a kindred spirit that draws me.

But she’s asking questions, questions that I can’t answer, questions that very powerful people don’t want asked. And if I can’t convince her to stop, she might be my next sacrifice.

Stealing is easy. Killing is easier. And while both have their special charm, nothing is as gratifying—or difficult—as pulling off the perfect con.

In fact, I’m in the middle of one right now, my biggest, and my last, and once it’s done, I’ll have all the money I could ever need and the freedom that comes with it.

She’s the only thing standing in my way.
It’s simple enough, though. I’ll just get close to her, get what I need, and then disappear.

Things aren’t going according to plan. Somewhere along the way, she’s become more than a means to an end, and I’m worried I might be breaking the first rule in the book:
I might be falling for my own con.

Death is My Business. Is Love My Salvation
Death is my business.
Give me a name—and my fee—and I’ll eliminate the target, no questions asked. Hundreds have fallen at my hand, and I’ve never given it a second thought.
But this job is different.
Because of her.
I felt it the first time I saw her, but I pushed it aside, determined to let nothing get in the way of my task. But when I had her in my sights, something I never expected happened: I flinched.
