Robert A. Heinlein (1907-1988) is generally considered the greatest American SF writer of the 20th century. A famous and bestselling author in later life, he started as a navy man and graduate of Annapolis who was forced to retire because of tuberculosis.  A socialist politician in the 1930s, he became one of the sources of Libertarian politics in the USA in his later years. His most famous works include the Future History series (stories and novels collected in The Past Through Tomorrow and continued in later novels), Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Given his desire for privacy in the later decades of his life, he was both stranger and more interesting than one could ever have known. This is the first of two volumes of a major American biography. This volume is about Robert A. Heinlein's life up to the end of the 1940s and the mid-life crisis that changed him forever. At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without . . .

The disaster at the First Battle of Bull Run shocked Union loyalists to a depth difficult to realize today. Unfortunately, a large part of the blame was laid at the doorstep of a veteran general who was not even there!

Major General Robert Patterson was a veteran of the Mexican War where he served with distinction and was wounded.

In the early days of the American Civil War, he was blamed for not preventing the forces of General Joseph Johnston from reinforcing the Confederates at Bull Run. Yet Johnston later stated as a main reason for not pursuing the shattered Union Army was the size, integrity, and mobility of Patterson's army in the Shenandoah.

Here is Patterson's own defense of his actions, as written by him in 1865. He was honorably discharged from the army after Bull Run and did not serve again.

For less than you'd spend on gas going to the library, this long out-of-print volume is available as an affordable, well-formatted book for e-readers and smartphones. . . .

This is not a diary like normal diaries, nor is it a history; it is a personal record of the helicopter war in Vietnam as I knew it, Depending upon the branch of service, type of unit, missions flown, and the area of Vietnam where missions were flown, one could surely find different accounts of what the helicopter war in Vietnam was like.

Much of what I have read concerning the helicopter war coming of age in Vietnam says little about contribution of the CH-47 Chinook. Having seen it first hand during the war, I know that this aircraft’s contributions were tremendous. If you doubt it, look at what a workhorse the CH-47 was In Iraq and still is in Afghanistan as I write this. The Army learned that craft in Vietnam.

At its peak deployment, there were (22) CH47 units and 750 Chinooks being used in Vietnam, both with the U.S. Army and the South Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF). About 200 aircraft (27%) were lost in combat or due to operational accidents.

I had then, and I still have . . .

Lt. Col. Robert “Buzz” Patterson exposes the terrifying, behind-the-scenes story of the years when the most irresponsible President in our history had his finger on the nuclear trigger. Dereliction of Duty is the inside story of the damage Bill Clinton did to the U.S. military and how he compromised our national security. From his laughable salutes, to his arrogant, anti-military staffers, the message came through loud and clear: the Clinton Administration had nothing but contempt for America’s men and women in uniform. For two years, Patterson was the White House military aide who carried the “nuclear football,” which provides the President with remote nuclear strike capabilities. What he witnessed is shocking. In Dereliction of Duty, Patterson reveals:How Clinton missed a golden opportunity to take out Osama bin Laden long before September 11, 2001Why a minor “family matter” caused the Clintons to scramble a military jetHow a young Clinton staffer tried to divert a full Navy . . .
